I was an eharmony member for a year, at the request of my mother who wonders why I'm still single at my age. While I wouldn't discourage anyone from trying it, I'd like to discuss my own experiences with the site.
First, the quality of the men are much better than say, Match.com, which is almost downright scary. To my surprise, not only were the men I met not my idea of marriage material, none of them seemed particularly keen on marriage. Perhaps they were there for the same reasons as myself: to find better quality dates. Even so, I met three men, none of whom were very stable in life, none of whom were well grounded in relationships, and none of whom I would ever consider for marriage even if they were interested. The biggest drawback to the site is that there is no psychological evaluation of these men, so you're really on your own in that regard.
It's just to say, you may not get what you're paying for since it's quite easy to be misled by all that advertising.
